PDEV 791 The History & Implications of Ageism & Anti-Ageism Activism (Part of the Gerontology Certificate Program) Online via Zoom

Maggie Kuhn, leader of the Gray Panthers once said, “Old age is not a disease- it is strength and survivorship, triumph over all kinds of vicissitudes and disappointments, trials and illnesses.” Prejudice or discrimination on the grounds of someone’s age, or ageism, is deep-rooted in U.S. culture, media, and workplaces. This class will delve into the history of ageism and anti-ageism activism in the United States. We will explore how ageism affects people of all ages and how to combat it. (3 contact hours)

This class is part of the Lifespan/St. John Fisher Gerontology Certificate program. Open to all.
