This class series will meet online via Zoom Thursdays March 6, 13, 20, and April 3, 10, 17 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a 6-week educational program that focuses on the needs of family caregivers of individuals with chronic conditions. Family caregivers develop a variety of self-care tools to:
• Reduce personal stress
• Change negative self-talk
• Communicate their needs to family members and healthcare providers
• Communicate more effectively in challenging situations
• Deal with difficult feelings
• Make tough caregiving decisions
Class participants also receive a copy of The Caregiver Helpbook, developed specifically for the class. This is a free class for family caregivers of someone with a chronic illness and/or dementia.

Have you experienced one or more falls? Do you have a complex medical condition? Don’t have the strength to participate in Tai chi or other exercise classes?

If so, then this class is for you! Otago is a balance and strength fall prevention exercise program. Studies show that people who participate in the Otago Exercise Program AND continue to perform the exercises can decrease their falls risk by up to 40%!

All Tai chi programs welcome people with all abilities. Movement is slow and gentle with consistent guidance from instructor as we progress. The classes will be taught standing, but students may also participate from a seated position (or a combination of sitting/standing as able.)

The benefits of tai chi include: builds balance, flexibility, strength, immunity, organ health, while lowering stress/anxiety/blood pressure. Fun - the practice is called “playing tai chi.”

Powerful Tools for Caregivers at The Village at Mill Landing

This class series will meet in person at The Village at Mill Landing every Monday from 11 am - 12:30 pm beginning January 27 through March 3.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a 6-week educational program that focuses on the needs of family caregivers of individuals with chronic conditions. Family caregivers develop a variety of self-care tools to:

• Communicate more effectively in challenging situations
• Deal with difficult feelings
• Make tough caregiving decisions

Evidence-based program developed by Dr. Lam, with the Tai Chi for Health Institute. Follows the Sun Style of Tai Chi. Improves balance, reduces the risk of falling, and reduces pain, stiffness, and decreased range of motion associated with arthritis. Slow, gentle, relaxing movements can be done seated or standing.

Living Healthy with Diabetes at Lifespan

This class meetings every Tuesday from 1-3:30 pm for six weeks beginning Tuesday, January 14th through Tuesday, February 18th.
Dates: January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 18

Living Healthy with Diabetes addresses physical, emotional, and social impacts of living with or caring for someone with Type 2 diabetes, and healthy strategies for remaining active. The classes cover factors impacting blood sugar, monitoring blood glucose, foot care, avoiding complications, and menu planning.
$25 contribution is suggested to cover class materials and snacks.
